| |
This
is very important information in regards to your 3Com
Phone System. 3Com phone
systems do NOT support the new changes to Daylight Savings
Time! You will have to manually change
your phone system Time forward and also backwards or purchase
the R6.0 upgrade that will automatically adjust the time
for you (see below for 25% off limited time special).
You will also need to uncheck the box that states "Observe
Daylight Savings Time"!
For
the U.S. and its territories, Daylight Saving Time is
NOT observed in Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico,
the Virgin Islands, and Arizona.
Beginning
in year 2007, most of the U.S. will begin Daylight Saving
Time at 2:00 a.m. on the second Sunday in March and revert
to standard time on the first Sunday in November. In the
U.S., each time zone switches at a different time.

PoE and NBX: What's
the Deal with PoE?
by
Matt Ferro |
| |
Power
over Ethernet (PoE) refers to the ability to carry electrical
power over a standard Ethernet cable - the same one used today
for transferring data. PoE allows IP telephones, WLAN access
points and webcams to receive power as well as data over existing
LAN cabling, without any requirement to modify the Ethernet
infrastructure. Ever since the ratification of the IEEE802.3af
standard in June 2003, growth in PoE devices and installations
has been increasing steadily. The primary benefits of the
802.3af standard include lower deployment costs due to elimination
of electrical outlets, and increased reliability especially
when paired with an uninterruptible power supply. It also
enables simpler installation because it goes wherever Ethernet
cabling is utilized.

"All
Tangled Up": The NBX Handset Cord Detangler
by
Sarah Grossman |
| |
Let
us all raise our handsets to that small, trusty part we call
a detangler, our savior to the mess of twisted phone cords
and unneeded aggravation. Have you tried purchasing other
detanglers that don't seem to stay in place? That's because
your NBX Phone contains a much deeper cord plug-in port than
most other phones, causing the typical detangler to fall out.
We took it upon ourselves to design our own cord detangler
specifically designed to work with the NBX phone handset for
all NBX Phone models.
